Is your company struggling to pay its debts? We are Licensed Insolvency Practitioners based in Plymouth at 12 William Prance Road and we can help you.
We offer specialist insolvency advice and services to businesses.
Whether you operate as a sole trader or run a limited company we are here to help. Our team of licensed insolvency practitioners have dealt with businesses and individuals facing every type of financial problem.
Firstly, we will assess your financial position. We will then explain all the available options to you and guide you through the best process of either trying to rescue your business or alternatively just close and liquidate.
No matter your financial situation we can help you understand your financial options. We can discuss your issues on the telephone, by email, Teams or meet in person in Plymouth.
Initially we want to understand what you would like to achieve, asses the financial pressure you are under and work out the total your business owes.
This helps us to decide which insolvency option is right for you. Dependant on your circumstances, it may be the simplest option is to close and liquidate. In some cases it maybe to try and keep the business going by administration or a Company Voluntary Arrangement.
Here are the most common options:
In some cases, ‘rescue’ of the business may mean closing by liquidation and you buying back the assets and starting again. In these circumstances the assets have to be independently valued and you may need to use a Section 216 Insolvency Act procedure to keep the business name.
It is worth noting that in liquidation this triggers the government backed Redundancy Payments Service (RPS) to pay out the staff the money they are owed. This fund covers redundancy, pay in lieu of notice, unpaid wages and unpaid holiday (subject to some statutory financial limits).

We are based at Buckland House, 12 William Prance Road, Plymouth PL6 5WR.
We moved there in 2011 from Plymouth city centre. The office previously traded as Neville and Co and the practice in Plymouth was started by Richard Neville, a licensed insolvency practitioner, in 2001. The firm was taken over by David Kirk in 2011 and we changed the name to Kirks in 2024.
